RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Rob McKay · 13/06/2018
West Didsbury & Chorlton will kick start their 2018 pre-season campaign with a short trip to Cheadle Town on Tuesday 10th July, 7:30pm KO
Cheadle Town finished last season 12th in the NWCFL First Division but there is a renewed sense of optimism at the club following the takeover of an ambitious new owner. The game will mark the third consecutive season in which the Park Road side have hosted West having previously met three times competitively in 2012.
The first ever meeting between the two sides came in September 2012, West’s first in the NWCFL, as Cheadle Town dumped West out of the FA Vase at Brookburn Road running out 3-1 winners with Graham Bryant scoring for West,.
The second meeting in the same month turned out to be just as eventful with Cheadle Town winning 3-2 at Park Road despite West having led 2-0 thanks to goals from Lee Malkin and Lewis Schofield.
West did manage to gain a minor revenge winning the reverse league meeting 4-0 in December thanks to goals from Scott Jones, Gareth Thomas, Tommy Walsh and Lee Malkin.
Cheadle Town join Ashton United, Wythenshawe Town and Clitheroe in the list of fixtures already confirmed for West’s 2018 pre-season.
