West Women Match Summaries – West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC

West Women Match Summaries

Double disappointment for the women’s teams as both firsts and reserves lost their league matches on Sunday.

The firsts faced the difficult trip to promotion favourites FC United. Following a recent heavy home defeat to them, this was a much more dogged effort from West, holding the hosts at bay for long periods of the game. FC scored late in each half to claim a 2-0 win but West gave a good account of themselves and weren’t helped by losing important defenders at half-time and on the hour mark. Hopefully both will make swift recoveries.

The reserves also suffered defeat on the road, but in somewhat different circumstances. Having gone behind at AFC Oldham, West scored a couple of goals in quick succession. Cath Thompson on the scoresheet again (assist by Tracey Sloane) before turning provider for Neha Biju. Oldham grabbed an equaliser before the break to make it 2-2. It was the home team who took the lead 6 minutes into the second half and held on to that lead for the remainder of the game to take all 3 points.
