Match Report | West Women 5-0 Wigan Athletic

A first league win of the season and a dominant performance from West.

West started on the front foot and an early goal on 5 minutes for Taylor Gunn, following in from a decent effort by Vicky Frisby was deserved reward.

There were plenty of other half chances for West, and probably 70% possession, but frustration that the half finished at just 1-0.

Half-time: 1-0

West were immediately on top again at the start of the 2nd half and Taylor had her second of the game after 48 minutes, finishing with her knee after great work from Jami on the left wing.

Wigan had a couple of free kicks in dangerous positions but nothing came from them.

West began to turn the screw as we entered the final quarter of the game. On 68 minutes a lovely cross from Fris picked out a well timed run by Hannah Mitchell who finished well to make it 3-0.

Twenty minutes later H returned the favour with some great work to put Fris through for a cool as you like finish. 4-0.

The goal of the game was saved for stoppage time – Fris with a perfect through ball and a stunning finish by Isha from outside the area.
