Match Report | West Women 1-4 Crewe Alexandra Women

A tough afternoon for West and a third successive league defeat.

Crewe were clinical on the break and that’s how they opened the scoring on 17 minutes, the first scoring opportunity for either side. West came close on 30 minutes, Sophie Bracegirdle denied by an excellent save having also started the move.

On 39 minutes, Biff had a decent strike but it was always going wide. Less than a minute later, Crewe were at the other end, adding their second goal.

West hit back 2 minutes later, an excellent 20+ yard drive that evaded the keeper’s dive.

Half-time: West 1-2 Crewe

On 47 minutes Isha forced an excellent save from the Crewe keeper, who then plucked the subsequent corner out of the air and set them on the counter. The pace too much for West and it was 1-3.

A couple of West changes but they couldn’t change the course of the game. On 80 minutes, another good save by the Crewe keeper and within seconds the ball was in the back of the net at the other end.
