When these two sides met in East Lancashire at the start of October, both were on an upward trajectory. West had won four consecutive games, while Padiham went through September unbeaten in league action.

Two goals from Ben Elliott and a Lee Gavin strike secured all three points for West that day, but this time around the sides meet looking for points to rejuvinate their seasons. West are looking for a first league win since overcoming FC Isle of Man on 11th October, while the Storks’ win at home to Ashton Athletic last time out was just their second success in ten matches.

As a result, this encounter has all the trappings of a mid-table battle – West in 9th, Padiham in 13th – with both sides harbouring aspirations of moving up the table.

This will be the Storks’ first visit to Brookburn Road since March 2019 – Gary Bernett’s second-half equaliser for the visitors ultimately proved pivotal, as Padiham went on to avoid relegation at West’s expense.
