Manchester Premier Cup | West to host Droylsden in First Round

West have been drawn at home to Droylsden in the first round of the Frank Hannah Manchester Premier Cup, with the game to take place on the week commencing 8 October.

The competition is one that has brought West fans plenty of cheer over the past few seasons, with away wins at Glossop North End and local rivals Maine Road being two particularly important results – but it is perhaps the away trip to FC United in February 2017 that will live longest in the memory. Despite ending in a resounding defeat, a sizeable West away following filled Broadhurst Park with noise for the duration of the game.

The full draw can be seen below. The date for the fixture will be confirmed in due course, and announced on our platforms when possible.

Since then, the competition has been dominated by teams in Tameside with Ashton United the most successful side – winning the trophy on 15 occasions. The clubs last success came back in 2003.

Second-placed Droylsden on 13 last won the cup in 2011 while Mossley in third with 11 wins are the last Evo-Stik League club to triumph in 2016 after a 3-1 victory over Stalybridge Celtic, their fourth win in five seasons.

The cup was lifted by FC United of Manchester for the second consecutive time last season after their 3-2 penalty shoot out win against Trafford FC.
