West's first home match of the 2026/27 season comes on Tuesday night with the visit of Runcorn Town.

Like West, Tuesday's opponents are playing their first-ever season in the Midlands Premier Division. They are the reigning North West Counties Division One South champions, having won the 2025/26 title in style with just one league defeat all season.

That title win formed part of an impressive treble, as they also won the NWCFL First Division Trophy and the First Division Champions Cup. They managed a club-record 18-match winning streak during the campaign, and also recorded their best ever win with a 12-0 demolition of Telford Town in February.

Our midweek opponents enjoyed a strong start to their Midlands Premier Division season with a 4-2 home win against Lye Town. Should they avoid defeat at Brookburn on Tuesday, Runcorn will be able to say that they have gone a whole calendar year without a league defeat.

Tuesday's match will be the 15th meeting between the two sides, with six West wins and seven for Town. There hasn't been a match between the sides this decade though, with the most recent meeting being an NWCFL League Cup Third Round match in December 2019, where Town claimed a 4-1 win at Brookburn Road.
