A new era begins for West on Saturday with our first ever match in the Midlands Premier Division. Our opponents are Abbey Hulton United, who finished 8th in their own debut MFL Premier Division season last term.
It's also the first competitive match under the stewardship of joint managers Lee Rick and Steve Yarwood, following a pre-season where West have lost just one game in six.
West have played the Abbey four times previously - all in the NWCFL Division One South - holding a 100% winning record. Three of those encounters came at Brookburn Road during seasons that were curtailed by Covid-19.
As a result, West have visited Drayton Beaumont Park only once before, running out 3-1 winners en route to the 2021/2022 Division One title thanks to an early Sam Heathcote brace and a second-half goal from Ben Elliott.
We'll be wearing our home shirt with white shorts and socks - a combination worn only once before, in our FA Vase tie at Hallen back in March.
