After perhaps the closest and certainly the most popular poll we’ve ever ran, we can now reveal that Ashley Leather has emerged as the supporter’s player of the month for August 2018. Winning by a margin of only 4 votes, second placed Saul Henderson would’ve also been a worthy winner having scored three vital goals during the opening fixtures. Leather himself also netted twice, having scored the two decisive efforts in West’s win over Whitchurch Alport – both of which can be viewed below, as clipped from the opposition’s highlights video. Goals aside, it is Ash’s ability to beat a man and get to the byline that has most set hearts racing at Brookburn Road, with the featured image for this piece a great illustration as to the feelings of fans as they’ve watched the man already dubbed Imperial Leather dancing past defenders. Despite only making 3 appearances, he’s also earned himself a chant from our home support to the tune of Crowded House – Weather With You.
