MATCH PREVIEW | West v City of Liverpool

Saturday 27th October 2018 (3pm), NWCFL Premier Division
West v City of Liverpool
Brookburn Road, Chorlton, M21 8FE
£5 adults / £3 concessions / free for under-12s

West will not so much need to tear up as incinerate the form book this weekend as promotion favourites City of Liverpool head down the M62.

After a six-game losing streak, a visit from the unbeaten, table-topping Purps is the last thing that Steve Settle would wish for – particularly after the Purps won the reverse fixture 4-0 three weeks ago. But West can’t afford to be picky after Tuesday’s defeat to Irlam left them five points adrift of 17th-placed Burscough.

City of Liverpool suffered a heavy defeat of their own in the FA Vase two weeks ago – losing 4-0 at Northern League Hebburn – but in the league only Irlam and Silsden have prevented Craig Robinson’s team from taking maximum points. The Purps are currently two points clear of Runcorn Town as they chase a second promotion in three seasons.

This will be a belated first visit to Brookburn Road for the Purps – last season’s fixture was moved to Atherton Collieries, with West recovering from 2-0 down to win 4-3.
